Simple Monkey Tools are software that is so easy a monkey could use them. But they provided some very useful functionality. Most of them were born out of a need a colleague or I had.

 

Give them a try, they are free of any malware, I don’t have the time to write that stuff.

I am having trouble with ZIP file formats on Office Live. You will need a third party unzip product if you are viewing this site with Internet Explorer.
 

 

Mozilla Firefox does not need any 3rd party unzip products.
 
Simply uncompress the package and run.
 

Disk Facts is a useful utility for determining the amount of free disk space on a drive. It works unsing drive letters or a UNC path. The utility has survived many forms and was originally use to verify available drive space on network drives back in the DOS days when that was not an easy task. It has continually moved with the times and has a nice GUI look now.

Simple CSV Edit is a light weight CSV editor. It is nice to have when you want to create or edit comma separated value (CSV) files, but don't want to load Excel or some other editor that has more that you need. Nice tool to have on servers.

File Sentinel can watch for file changes and issues alerts. Nice when you want to monitor log file changes. This application will sound an alert and optionally display the files contents.

Monkey Run or AKA "Run As Monkey" is a tool used to build Windows RunAs command lines. The application can also execute the command. Nice to have when building scripts.

Monkey Trunks is a shortcut management tool that utilizes the Monkey Shorts shortcut container system. Monkey Trunks runs in the system tray and will present a menu of shortcut containers, better known as Monkey Shorts. These "Monkey Shorts" are nice ways of organizing shortcuts sans the use of a bunch of Windows folders. Simply add Monkey trunks to your Windows Start Menu Startup folder, and viola.

MultiPad is a MDI replacement for Notepad. It can edit text and rich text documents. If you have MS Word installed it will utilize the Spell and Grammar checking provided by MS Word. Also has a Monkey Shorts area where you can load shortcuts to your favorite documents or applications.

RenDate is a command line tool used to rename files with the current date and time. This is nice when archiving log files.

Simple Mail is a command line or GUI tool used to send email. You will need a SMTP server. Has a simple configuration setup. Can attached files, read the message from a file, CC, BCC, the works. This is nice when scripting jobs and you want to attach and send yourself log files. Also nice to have on servers to send email without installing a complicated email client.
